JSC Golf Scramble - April 24, 2014: JSC started an annual “Scramble” type golf tourney in 2008, and LRD has been represented each year. Well, this year was the 7th Annual, and HOLY COW, LRD won Thursday's round. With all the interest they had to split the field up to two days, and thank goodness the beer finally kicked in as we birdied the last 6 holes. The first few years team members were Mike Collins, Mel Richmond, Ron Epps and Milt Heflin. When Mike moved out to the Hill Country area, Bill Chase joined us. This year Mel is having some bionic body parts added so we invited a real golfer (a.k.a. "a ringer") to fill in - former Astronaut and Director of Flight Crew Operations, Dave Leestma. Notice that the ball caps say "Apollo Recovery" on the front, and for us real Recovery guys shows "LRD" on the back so Dave got a special version for his cap's backside, see photo below.
